RENTALS

(2 Hour, Half Day, and Full Day Rentals Available)

We rent a variety of kayaks and canoes for self-guided trips on the Red Deer River and surrounding area. Our rental office is located right along the Red Deer River. Equipment and instruction necessary on how to safely transport your rental equipment to the launch point of your choice is available. Shuttle service to launch and pick up sites is also available.

ISLANDS TOUR

(2-3 Hour Tour)

The Islands Tour (14 km)– guided kayak or canoe tour starting from the Kneehill County Line access and ending at the Red Deer River Adventures main site. The river gradient decreases approaching Drumheller, and the current slows allowing for a relaxing slower pace and the opportunity to really study the features of the badlands. Some of the earliest and most important dinosaur discoveries in Alberta were made in the badlands in this area and we will pass near the site where the first Albertosaurus was discovered.

ROSEDALE TOUR

(2-3 Hour Tour)

The Rosedale Tour (13 km) – guided kayak or canoe tour starting from the Red Deer River Adventure main site and ending at Rosedal Bridge. This is a very popular run that passes much of downtown Drumheller but is sheltered from it by large cottonwoods. As we launch you will see the famous World’s Largest Dinosaur near downtown.

HORSETHIEF CANYON TOUR

(Half Day Tour 4-6 Hours based on water levels)

Horsethief Canyon – (21 km ) – guided kayak or canoe tour starting from the Bleriot Ferry and ending at the Red Deer River Adventures main site. Here we will see rocks from near the end of the Cretaceous Period, about 70 million years ago, near the end of the age of dinosaurs. This area is well known for fossil discoveries of these beasts. There have been over 35 dinosaur discoveries recorded in the region. Soon after our launch we reach Horsethief Canyon on our left.

 SUSPENSION BRIDGE TOUR

Full Day Tours (5-9 hours based on water levels)

Lower Drumheller Valley (26 km) – guided kayak or canoe tour starting from the Red Deer River Adventure main site and ending at the hamlet of East Coulee. This very popular run passes downtown Drumheller but is sheltered from it by large cottonwoods. As we launch you will see the famous World’s Largest Dinosaur near downtown. An island coincides with the Drumheller Town limit and then the railway track and thick brush buffer the river from civilization so it feels more remote than it really is.
